DEPARTMENTS

SJTI has three academic departments, Philosophy, Theology and Religious studies.

Both the Philosophy and Religious Studies departments offer two qualifications. A two year diploma in each discipline as well as a three year Bachelor's degree in each discipline.

The department of Theology offers two bachelor degrees. A three year arts degree in theology as well as a four year professional ministerial degree. The latter not only conforms to civil requirements for a degree but also fulfils the requirements of Canon Law and the Catholic Church for the academic formation of Roman Catholic clergy.

SJTI's library, the Denis Hurley Memorial Library, is an important department sustaining the academic excellence of SJTI. It is a world class theological library and is a fundamental resource to the Pietermaritzburg Cluster. The library's catalogue is available on line, the link is given on the library page.
